Happy Eye Safety Awareness Week

Tuesday, June 29th, 2010

Eye Safety is so very important all day every day you can injure your eyes without even thinking about it! Straining to look at a computer, getting chemicals in them, or getting hit with a projectile. Think and wear the proper gear in sports to avoid the 40,000 sports eye injuries each year. And wear safety glasses even just around the house when working to avoid the 125,000 yearly injuries caused by common household products. We have so many styles, colors, brands, and prices on safety glasses - they even make ones that fit right over your prescription lens if needed - because regular glasses do not protect in the same ways as safety glasses!

The Pink Hard Hat Project followed me to a charity event this last weekend. It was Alumni Day at Jolly’s Drive-In in Tiffin, Ohio where all employees from past years were invited back to work volunteer 2-hour shifts and all tips were donated to F.A.C.T. - Financial Assistance for Cancer Treatment of Seneca County - their only two requirements are that you live in Seneca County and have a diagnosis of cancer - WOW! That is a powerful worthy cause!

Don’t forget that by subscribing to one of our newsletters or by providing positive feedback after a sale on one of our on-line venues you are entered into a monthly contest to win a $20 merchandise credit along with a $10 shipping credit - 3 given away each month - so tell your friends and family!!!!! Wednesday, April 28th, 2010

Been getting a great education around here lately thanks to all your phone inquiries - learning some of the products, learning the venues where we offer these products, and learning orders and returns…..WOW! Am I ever learning!   Keep the calls coming - that’s how I know how to help the next time - by doing it this time….I may not be quick at it right now - but I will get you your answers!

It’s National Playground Safety Week and Youth Sports Safety Month - as the Mother of boys this is a subject I am well aware of - know why some parents dress certain kids in orange at the park????? It’s cause they are the ones that you need to spot quick - not because they get lost or are too little - they get into trouble easy - play rougher than most and like to experiment - check it out next time - you’ll see - we have orange t-shirts and safety vests - Mom’s these are great - Hi Viz and inexpensive!

Youth sports safety starts with eye protection - wear those safety glasses - 90% of all sports eye injuries would be avoided with a simple and inexpensive pair of goggles - We got ‘em - call me!

Keep the calls coming - inquiries, orders, and concerns - That’s what we are here for - YOU!!!!

And Again, March is……….

Tuesday, March 23rd, 2010

WOW! March was such an informative month for all we need to be aware of around us, so I will continue on and tell you about National Athletic Training Month and Save Your Vision Month both of these are so important and really need to get the information out there - so get ready - here it comes……Athletic Trainers are there to maximize playtime and health of  athletes, they also diagnose and treat injuries once they have occurred. Getting these athletes to do what they love and do it well is a huge part of this profession.  A big factor to consider this time of the year is heat exhaustion in athletes - we offer a variety of products to reduce or eliminate heat stress - most of these products are light weight, various colors and sizes, inexpensive, reusable, convenient,  and stylish for everyday use.  Just a few to mention are headliners, neck shades, headbands, bandanas, sweatbands, cooling packs, vests, hard hat accessories, and Gatorade Coolers, and many, many more……….

Save Your Vision Month also hits home in this industry, this awareness campaign is furthered by the American Optometric Association to have regular check-ups and how to maintain eye health.  A few ways to do this are take regular breaks at a computer, have your screen at an optimum height and brightness, wear eye protection in sports and industrial situations, and educate yourself on chemical uses.  We offer a variety of products to help with this as well, safety glasses of all sizes, colors, and styles, and platform raisers to adjust height, goggles, hard hat shields,  eye wash stations and again many, many more……

Whether you are athletic or protecting your vision we have the products you need to do that, but always remember being aware of your surroundings and educated on the equipment you are using will go a long way to defeating injuries that never need to occur. Product of the week - covers both of these areas, 6 pair set of Wraparound Safety Glasses, clear, can be worn alone or fits over prescription glasses, lightweight, reusable, great for sports and industry, fits in purse or gym bag, and very inexpensive. Now aren’t you  worth it!!!!

March is also………..

Friday, March 19th, 2010

Continuing on with our awareness month’s news this week we will cover National Red Cross Month, National Irish -American Heritage Month - featuring St. Patrick’s Day, and National Optimism Month…..So here we go!

The Red Cross founded in 1881 by Clara Barton has been helping victims without prejudice of wildfire, power outage, earthquake, fire, flood, flu outbreak, winter storm, tornado, thunderstorm, heat wave, hurricane, landslide and more.  The Red Cross helps by being ready before, aiding during, and assisting after an event. They offer teaching and training on preparedness for home and family, workplace and employees, and school and students. They contact family members, offer shelter and supplies, help with recovery, and assist military members and their families. The Red Cross graciously accepts donations in the form of money, volunteers, blood donations, Make A Difference Campaign, and employment. Their humanitarian effort is led by volunteers and approximately $.92 of every dollar given is invested back into these efforts - WOW! That’s some great #’s - Keep up the good work! We all benefit every single day from the good deeds that this organization does whether we realize it or not.

Happy Irish American Heritage Month - I want to talk a bit about St. Patrick’s Day and how wildly popular this day has become recently for people of all backgrounds. Unknown to most this day marks the death of St. Patrick, the Patron Saint of Ireland, not his birth.  He was taken prisoner at age 16 where he spent 6 years in captivity as a shepherd. Upon escaping he continued on in  the same land as a missionary for 15 more years.  Most stories of his life have been exaggerated and passed down through the years. This holiday has been a religious celebration in Ireland for over 1000 years, it is celebrated with dancing, drinking, and feasting on the traditional meal of Irish bacon and cabbage - YUMMY! Until the 1970’s Irish law mandated that all pubs be closed for the religious holiday - but the Irish government began a National campaign to drive tourism and showcase Ireland to the world. As a result of that campaign last year about 1 million people celebrated in Dublin’s multi-day festival including parades. concerts, outdoor theatre productions, and fireworks shows! Now that’s a successful marketing campaign!

A sight to see in the U.S. is the Chicago River dyed green each year for this day - this tradition started back in 1962 as a way to detect pollution - the city workers marketed the idea and it became quite a hit. They used to pour in about 100 pounds of vegetable dye to make the river green for about a week, now they only use about 40 pounds and it filters out after a few hours. Although Chicago claims this to be an original idea, the residents of Savannah say their Mayor tried it first in 1961 and it failed due to bad weather conditions and was never tried again - well Savannah - Chicago made it work!

It’s also National Optimism Month - WOW! That’s inspiring! Now for the Product(s) of the week!!  Everything Green - safety glasses, gloves, welding clothes, hand trucks, storage containers, hats, hard hats, sweat bands, and much more - check it out!

Don’t forget we are always adding new products - so keep checking back! And did you know if you buy a product on our Website and give us positive feedback you are automatically entered into a drawing to win a $20 merchandise credit off of your next order with a complimentary $10 shipping credit! WOW! Just for awesome feedback that you would probably give anyway! Of course certain restrictions apply and the winner each month will be discreetly announced. Last month’s winner was William G. - Thanks William and congrats to you! Just so you know if you are a newsletter subscriber you are automatically entered each month - without having to do anything - so sign up - it’s easy!

I’ll talk to you again in a couple of days - until then………….

Happy Valentine’s Day!

Thursday, February 11th, 2010

Hope you all got your orders in for the Red hard hats, Pink tool belts, and Purple aprons we offer - it’s a great Valentine’s Day gift for all those who you love and want to keep safe - nothing like a unique gift instead of the same old, same old we see year after year…….Just a suggestion - but I would know! Valentine’s Day has come a long way from silk and lace hand delivered valentines to mass produced paper cards to everyone you know and maybe don’t love, so why can’t we advance this very special holiday one more step and make it about safety too?! Come on - get creative - don’t fall in with the programmed masses - get a hard hat or tool belt - it’s what you don’t expect to get that’s a treat!

Did you know that February is Workplace Eye Safety Month????? Could there be a more meaningful awareness subject - OK for me! This subject hits home for me - I had what I thought was a workplace eye injury back in 1997 - turned out to be genetic - THANKS DAD! But I began to wonder why this happened to me - well, I guess I easily could have worn safety glasses while I was using a very strong industrial cleaner - that being said - we have a ton of safety glasses - inexpensive, nice looking, and saves the eyeball worries - get them - I DID!!!! We all know it - but I’m going to say it again - YOU CAN NEVER BE TOO CAREFUL WHEN IT COMES TO YOUR EYES! If what you can do to save your eyesight is quick, easy, and cheap - why wouldn’t you do it?

Let’s talk stats - we started out the year with our website being so-so and by the end of January more than doubled the products you could get - WOW! That’s HUGE - but guess what??? Our goal for the end of March is to quadruple that! That’s a GREAT goal!  Check out this website - IT’S AWESOME! And obviously growing! If we can add this many products - imagine what you could find…….Talk more next week - WRITE ME!

Welcome 2009!

Saturday, January 10th, 2009

Happy New Year to all! I wanted to start the first post of the year with some info about products in our catalog. What’s new, what’s coming, and so on.

We’re starting the year off with a special on a 4 way convertible hand truck. Get it now for $105.25! It’s a great deal, this is our number one selling hand truck. It’s light weight, versitile, travels well, will convert to 3 positions, with 4 options.

Later this month look for additions to the womens line of safety products. We’ll be adding some ladies styles of safety glasses, work gloves, and tool belts. Who knows what else we may find to add as well.

2009 will bring lots of changes to our company. We’ve added staff starting this month - one in shipping and one in the office. This will help us to expand our product line, and handle the volume of shipping we need to do. We like to have products shipped out within 24 - 48 hours.

New products will be added almost daily. From welding safety, to fall protection, to additonal products in the lines we currently carry…. more safety glasses, hard hats, gloves, protective clothing. We’ll also be adding more to the brand names section. Currently we have Harley Davidson safety glasses, hard hats, and welder gloves. Smith and Wesson, and DeWalt, safety glasses. We want to build on that. Winchester, AO, Orange County Chopper, NFL series, Collegiate, MSA, Bullard, and more.

Additionally we’re planning a line of articles to help you understand the various safety regulations. ANSI has many standards for items, but do you know which is right for you? We’re working on that.

So check us out as we continue to grow. Bookmark us, and watch for the changes.

Happy Holidays

Sunday, December 7th, 2008

As we wind down our year I wanted to take a minute to wish all of our customers a Happy and Peaceful Holiday Season. I hope you take some time to enjoy your friends, family, loved ones, throughout this season.

It’s been an interesting year for us. We started the internet side of our business just over a year ago - Dec 1, 2007 to be exact. We really didn’t know how that would work out for us, but it’s been wonderful. It has given us opportunities to grow into new areas of our industry. Safety products being our biggest growth area.

As 2009 gets closer we are preparing to expand our product line again. We’ve recently picked up some new suppliers and will be adding a line of tool belts, and pouches. More safety glasses, and expanding our Industrial Pink section - yes ladies we have found more product just for you!

We’ll be adding pink work gloves, pink safety vests, and pink safety glasses. We hope to pick up a line of pink tool belts soon. We’ll also be adding other colors of our products - red, purple, blue….

Be sure to watch for the new section of hard hats we’ll be adding soon. Sports! Your favorite college, or pro, sports teams - football, baseball, basketball, hockey, even racing.

From the entire staff at Wren Industrial Storage Equipment

HAPPY HOLIDAYS!
